What happens in a $50 trial lesson

Every player’s first visit to Compete BP is a 45-minute, one-on-one trial lesson for $50. Here is exactly what to expect.

Before you come

Book an open time with one of our trial coaches on our live schedule; it takes about a minute. Bring the gear your player normally uses (bat, glove, catcher’s gear if they catch) and athletic shoes. Plan to arrive a few minutes early.

During the lesson

Your coach starts by watching your player do what they normally do, whether that is hitting, pitching, catching or fielding. Where it helps, they measure it with tools like HitTrax, Rapsodo or Blast Motion. Then they work on one or two things right away so your player feels the difference.

What you leave with

A clear plan: what your coach saw, the data behind it and the two or three things that will move the needle first. Parents are welcome to watch and ask questions.

After the trial

Keep training with the same coach, try a different one, join a group class or put in cage time on your own. If another coach is a better fit for your player’s position or goals, we will tell you.
